Chasing the Wind

Nassiri

An old man told me a long, long time ago,
you ask questions that you already know.
The wise man walks in the light,
the fool, in the dark;
he sees only with his eyes instead of his heart.

We fight for the riches of the land,
ignore all the blessings in our hand.
We climb to the highest mountaintop,
arrive, and yes still we cannot stop.

There is nothing new under the sun;
what is to be has already been
There is nothing new under the sun,
What was before will be once again.

It’s vanity to pretend
our humanity won’t end.
The more we dream of earthly things, the more we’re chasing the wind.
It’s vanity how we thirst
for a chance to be the first.

One day we all will forget
what we said last time we met.
As time goes on what was here is gone,
because we’re only chasing the wind.
